CYBER UPDATE 4/5: What is the IASME Cyber Assurance Level 2 (including GDPR and Quality Principles)?

Setting the standard for your Industry with IASME Cyber Assurance Level 2

Our final step toward becoming an IASME Certification Body was to achieve our IASME Cyber Assurance Level 2 certification. This audited certification demands a comprehensive evaluation of an organisation’s cyber security defences, policies and procedures, producing an extensive report and, when successful, certification of compliance with the highest standard recognised by IASME. We are proud to operate at this level and to be able to demonstrate to our customers and partners that we truly are doing whatever we can to maintain the integrity and security of our business operations.

The requirements for Level 2 are stringent and necessarily extensive, ensuring that this prestigious certification continues to carry a high value. As such, many organisations choose to enlist the support of cyber security experts, such as the inTEC Group, to ensure that the process to certification is as seamless as can be. As an IASME Certification Body, we can take you through the whole process, from an initial outline of the work required, through a fully supported process of improvement toward meeting the standard and culminating in an official IASME audit, delivered by one of our accredited auditors.

A Level 2 certification signifies a stronger level of security. While many small businesses might see this as an extravagance in a time of testing budgets, the reality is that IASME Level 2 continues to provide an affordable means of achieving a standard closely mapped to ISO 27001 which, with the right support, is very achievable for SMEs. And while phishing attacks continue to dominate the cyber security threat environment, almost 1 in 5 UK businesses report experiencing a virus or malware attack in the last year – and many of these are small and micro businesses. Ultimately, investing in a higher standard of cyber security, in today’s digital world, will never be a waste of time or money.

Once you are accredited, you will be working to a standard recognised by a number of UK Government Agencies, allowing you to bid for high-value public sector contracts open only to trusted organisations who have demonstrated their exemplary cyber security credentials. Such markets are becoming gradually more friendly to SMEs, with recognition of IASME certifications representing a major step forward. This makes it paramount for SMEs with growth ambitions to get accredited to ensure your business is best-placed to harness the opportunity this trend will bring – the weight that your Level 2 accreditation carries is only going to increase.

While the standard for Level 2 may be high, all IASME certifications have been compiled for SMEs, through extensive consultation with small businesses across the UK. As such, this certification continues to be an affordable and achievable way of credibly demonstrating that your organization holds cyber security as a foremost priority. By enlisting expert support throughout the process, you give yourself the best chance of succeeding at the first time of asking, saving you time and money in the long-term and getting you fully accredited at the earliest opportunity.
